Preverisk Group and DERTOUR Group join forces for animal welfare and sustainable tourism
In 2023, Preverisk Group and DERTOUR Group joined forces to offer safe, high-quality travel experiences that prioritise animal welfare in some of the world's most beautiful tourist destinations.
DERTOUR Group, the travel and tourism division of REWE Group, is one of Europe's leading tourism groups. By partnering with Preverisk Group and Animondial, DERTOUR Group strengthens its commitment to animal welfare.
The partnership with Animondial is an important step on DERTOUR Group's path towards improving animal welfare, minimising the impact on biodiversity and contributing to nature conservation.
Preverisk Group contributes specifically to animal welfare consultancy in the tourism sector, enabling travellers to be more aware of global issues such as poverty, environmental pollution, biodiversity conservation and respect for local cultures and human rights, all aspects of "sustainability". In recent decades, animal welfare has gained significant importance, and ABTA laws and standards reflect this.
Animal welfare consultancy analyses the risks to the welfare of animals in tourism, whether wild, domestic or semi-domestic. Criteria include housing, nutrition, environmental conditions, behavioural expression and animal health.
As part of this effort, DERTOUR Group is committed to a comprehensive audit programme. This programme will allow us to assess the overall animal welfare, safety and hygiene aspects of the various excursions and activities offered. Through this programme, we aim to identify and implement the necessary improvements to ensure a safe experience and promote responsible ecosystem management.
We are excited about the potential positive impact of this programme on animal welfare in DERTOUR Group's tourism destinations. Together, we are driving positive change in the tourism sector by prioritising the compassionate treatment of animals and leveraging tourism to improve welfare standards.
